(Firstly, so thankful for people praying for us & our suburb/region yesterday as bushfire raged & threatened. We saw God use your prayers. Thank you.)
It was powerful watching & praying & seeing what God did last night!
Some interesting things to note:
It was a miracle homes were not lost here. We watched fire break out in multiple backyards & places as a wall of fire came through & then quickly as people prayed (& firefighters worked hard!) the wall of fire would retreat. It was really quite amazing to see. Unified prayer was & is powerful!
Also, interestingly, I noted that being up the mountain (literally, we stood on the hill behind our home for hours) gave a perspective that we couldn’t get on the ground, or from the media, & made praying more targeted!
Also, actually being on the frontline of the outbreak of fire, made praying more focused too as we “saw” where the flames were actually breaking out……. our hearts were deeply connected to what was going on because we were in the middle of it!
Interestingly, the most accurate updates were coming from those actually in/at the fire!! And the information needed to pray came from watching it all happen in front of us…. not from media who were largely reporting things long after we just watched it happen & people were already on it praying!
A small ember can QUICKLY start an inferno!
Fire consumes everything in its path.
Fire draws a crowd! Everyone came out of their homes to see what was happening.
It’s REALLY important to BE READY to move quickly!!!!!!
Things change & shift quickly in fire & you must be alert, listening, watching, and prepared to go with whatever happens next. Just when you think it’s died down, it breaks out again!
Fire prioritises your priorities! It sharpens, brings focus, and shows you quickly what really matters!!! Suddenly things don’t matter… people do.
Night watchers are so precious & so needed in the fire!
God is in the midst, an ever present friend. There is peace available….. always.
Fire always finds a way to breakthrough!
Lots to take away from this….. not least of which the power of prayer!!! God is very good! I’m in awe of God’s goodness.
